Cleaning mud from a carpet

Mud can look problematic, but is usually quite easy to clean

Mud can be a tough stain to clean if you get it on your carpet. This can be especially troublesome if you have pets or children running around your house after being out in the garden. Don’t panick however, as this stain is relatively easy to remove.

The worst thing you can do with fresh mud is to try and clean it when it is damp. The mud will smear and become even more ingrained into the carpet. By allowing the mud to fully dry, the majority of stain can be brushed away, as it will turn to dust when very dry.

Once the mud stains have dried, either crumble large bits away with your fingers, or use a brush to remove any remaining bits. You can always then run over this area with a hoover to pick up the dust that is generated, which will also leave you with a much cleaner looking carpet. If there are is any remaining discolouration, then use a damp cloth with some liquid soap and blot the affected area until clean.

Alternatively, try and  keep messy feet off your nice clean floor!
