Another quick painting related tip for you today, and also another money saver.
When painting your new room you may want to customise the paint colour for the project. Often DIY stores will charge an additional fee for mixing your own colours or as a last resort you may have to buy a brand new pot of paint.
One way to get around this is to mix in those cheap ‘tester pots’ of paint to a larger pot of white paint, slowly making your desired hue. Add the paint gradually, a few drops at a time as there is no way to reverse it once added. Once thoroughly mixed in, assess the colour and tweak it to your tastes.
This method works most effectively when trying to create pastel shades, ie: light blues, yellows, pinks etc but with some imagination you can create any colour you want. You also benefit from being able to use up some of that white paint that is gathering dust in your garage!
