Lawn Scarification

Powered lawn scarifierLast year I had issues with my lawn in the summer months in areas close to trees where dead leaves had fallen throughout the year. I’m pretty sure these leaves were clogging up soil and preventing it from breathing and absorbing water properly. I had not bothered using a lawn scarifier that season and believe this was the reason my lawn suffered.

Scarifying your lawn is a really important aspect of lawn maintenance in these early summer weeks. Using a scarifier on your lawn will help improve its drainage, allowing air and water to reach the roots. This will lessen the chances of your lawn catching diseases that affect its performance.

Before performing the scarification process you need to make sure all loose moss, chippings, dead grass/leaves etc has been fully raked away. Scarifying large lawns will require a powered lawn scarifier that can be purchased or hired out.  Using a power scarifier will make the much task easier.
