This tip usually applies to painting, but can also be useful when try to piece together wallpaper, furniture and accessories in a room. Colour theory in essence allows complimentary colours to be chosen from a colour wheel and is a great way to your perfect colours for a new project before even getting to your local DIY shop. Getting colours right is an important aspect of any interior design task, so tools like these are essential at times.

Kuler colour wheel tool
Kuler, a nifty application from Adobe is predominantly used by web designers, but i find it a great way to source new colours for painting projects. Try some cool blues for a bathroom, or rustic reds for a kitchen perhaps, its really up to your individual tastes.

Colour Wheel Function
The tool itself has multiple modes, such as monochromatic (so you can keep things blue etc..) and triad, which allows you to pick colours from opposite sides of the colour wheel. I recommend you experiment to find that perfect colour scheme and the best part is, it doesnt cost a thing to use - good luck!
